Remembrance poem by James Kavanagh (14)

Remembrance
A single poppy lies on the rain soaked names of the fallenA single poppy lies on the rain soaked names of the fallen
A single poppy lies on the rain soaked names of the fallen

As we shall remember those who fall

“Chin up brother”

As we and our country stand tall

We will honour each other

From the dawn of time

War was an answer

And veterans write a rhyme

About war is like cancer

As war can bring brothers to fight one another

Make living men leave

Making their lovers

Having to grieve

We shall remember those who fought for our cause

We shall value them like a gem

By giving them an honourable pause

We will not forget them

On the eleventh hour of the eleventh we shall stand tall

Remaining silent

For those who did fall

To stop the violent.
