Queen’s Diamond Jubilee benches mix-up
In a letter to the editor from George Adam and relating to benches bought by the town council to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, it is stated “the bill has been paid but there are no benches”.
That statement is incorrect. In addition to two benches bought for installation in St Paul’s Churchyard, which are mentioned in the letter, the town council also ordered one for St John’s Churchyard. Unfortunately, there was a problem with delivery to St Paul’s and all three benches were left at the delivery address for St John’s.
I have only just become aware of this and am now making arrangements to have two of the benches moved to St Paul’s.
