POEM: Neil Armstrong’s moon landing
July 20th, 1969. At the age of 13, I witnessed one of the most important happenings during my lifetime.
I watched a man walk somewhere other than on the earth.
Neil Armstrong put the first footprint on the moon.
A reluctant celebrity, he shied away from fame.
He may have said: “This is a small step for a man”
But he put a stamp on history forever
And now he has taken his “giant leap” into the next world,
Leaving us to remember that long night.
It was a starry one and the moon shone.
