Parish councillor worked tirelessly for area

I read with dismay the resignation of fellow Parish Councillor Bill Mayor, of Goldshaw Booth Parish Council.

Mr Mayor is a very highly respected man in the community who has worked tirelessly in the parish and surrounding areas.

Unlike some county councillors, who only look after their own self-interest, Mr Mayor was not looking for any personal gain.

It is very difficult to find people of his calibre with such knowledge and interest in his fellow men and local surroundings.

I hope, as Mr Mayor stated in his letter, the perpetrators of his resignation will be punished at the next local elections.

I would like to wish him well for the future and hope he will return to his rightful place back on the parish council.
