No more supermarkets needed in Clitheroe
Do they want it to be a town with no centre, ringed by supermarkets? Cars driving on to the car parks, picking up their shopping and leaving without ever setting foot in the town centre. Does Clitheroe need another supermarket? Surely no. I thought permission should have been refused for Sainsbury’s and since then Lidl has joined the town.
The market traders and our local Booths, not to mention Dawson’s and many small shops, must feel their customers eroding away. Come on council protect the town, for every job created by Aldi one will be lost at another shop.

Hide AdSecondly the Barkers site is an ideal brownfield site for housing. I’ve lost count of the amount of front pages of the Advertiser devoted to residents protesting about building on green fields. Why not put houses here where this derelict site needs attention.
Come on Ribble Valley think of the town’s long term future.
