Money should solve UK problems, not go overseas

This summer I attended and enjoyed Bacup Carnival. It is good to see the continued popularity of such community events.

One small feature of the carnival was for people attending to bring some tins of food or other basic items. This was for a food bank to help local people struggling to make ends meet. I am sure some of these individuals and families are having real difficulties through no fault of their own.

How is it possible that one of the richest countries in the world and a leader in technology and progress can contain such misfortune? Like many ordinary people, I struggle with household expenditure but that is quite distinct from the need to use charity food.

That society is so neglectful of some native sections of it is quite appalling. All recent governments have failed to protect and give fair opportunity to all the good people of England. At the same time that food banks are mushrooming across the shires, we have the obscenity of £1billion A month handed over to foreigners as so-called “overseas development”.

Far too much of this goes to deeply corrupt and unreformable places with severe problems we cannot solve. Places where a plutocracy has been created to give the impression something worthwhile is being done but when, in reality, the money is channelled to a great part to the privileged elite to enjoy “western style” pleasures of sports cars and quality clothes.

Places where there is no auditing of accounts nor traceability of the funding. For those who doubt the majority of our money over the last 40 years has been wasted then please make the most basic search on the Internet.

The reality of the whole efficacy of spending our money like this should hit you in the face like a wet kipper.

Places where rich elites expect us to deal with their poor people. Given the increase in population in these countries, the situation is beyond our solving. For those who want to give all their money to such corrupt regimes, go right ahead. I won’t stop you.

However, our taxation should be spent on eradicating the kinds of incipient poverty in England that I referred to until food banks are a thing of the past once again.
