Long hours but claimed no expenses
Following his success in retaining the Old Laund Booth ward for the Lib-Dems, Brian Newman says he has big shoes to fill but I wonder if he realises just how big they are.
John David was a councillor of the old school who accepted that serving the public was a privilege, not a passport to personal gain.
Records show that, despite many years of working long and no doubt often unsocial hours, he never took one penny in expenses.
