LETTER: Where has the park weather station gone?

WHAT with all the adverse weather conditions we have had lately, coupled with the tiny amount of sunshine, it made me wonder whatever happened to the weather station which was in Queen’s Park, Burnley?

It had a rain gauge to tell the amount of rainfall and also a sunshine recorder, which was a glass ball with a curved chart fixed to the back and when the sun shone it burnt a line on the chart to record the amount of hours of sunshine that particular day.

But I can’t remember if it had an anemometer to tell the wind-speed and it had a temperature recorder as well.

It would be interesting to know if anyone can say what happened to this weather station and where it went.
