LETTER: We should take care of waste paper recycling sacks provided

Has anyone been puzzled by the fact that many of Ribble Valley Borough Council’s sacks for paper have holes in the bottom?

My last week’s sack, although looking new, had a huge hole in the bottom, which needed repairing before putting in anything, even an old Clitheroe Advertiser!

This week, I asked one of the paper collectors why so many had holes, and learnt it was because people overload their sacks and/or drag them over rough surfaces.

Some older folk may not be able to lift their sacks, but they are unlikely to be overfilling them and making them heavy; the rest of us should have no problems lifting them, should we?

RVBC is doing what it can to reduce unnecessary spending; isn’t it our responsibility to take better care of these sacks?
