LETTER: We should be proud of the NHS, it’s second to none

ONE hears about the NHS only when things go wrong.

We are blessed here with a wonderful service.

We have travelled widely in the UK and overseas and have found no better attention than that we have received locally from our health centre, ambulance service and hospitals.

My wife was admitted into Blackburn Royal Hospital, Ward B22, on Boxing Day with a fractured hip following a fall. She is very frail.

All the staff, especially the doctors and nursing staff in A&E and on ward 22B, showed exceptional care and kindness with which they looked after her.

Without fail they all treated her with dignity and thoughtfulness and have given the phrase “tender love and care” its true and practical meaning.

I am pleased to say she has been discharged and is being well cared for by the staff in Lowfield House, by her own doctor and district nurses.

I have written to the NHS authorities and to the Minister of Health to express my thanks and gratitude and hope you will find the space to give credit where credit is due.

BRIAN FINCH,

Bashall Eves
