LETTER: We believe in freedom of speech in the UK
I FEEL I must reply to the letter from Rukhsar Ahmed (“Timing is suspect”, February 8th).
I did not rant, I merely stated the facts as I saw them.
And let me remind you, this great country which you or your parents came to live in believes in freedom of speech and fair play, and freedom of religion which my father fought for for five years in the Second World War in order for you to have these rights.
I would also like to reply to David Penney’s letter.
I would respect your beliefs if you went to live in Palestine and campaigned from there for freedom of speech in Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and all the other Islam states – or is it safer to to it from this country where you are free?
