LETTER: Soldiers’ charity says thanks after first fund-raiser

S.A.L.U.T.E. (Soldiers. Assisted. Leaving. Uniform. Together. Empower.) would like to thank everyone who played a part in making our first fund-raising event at Burnley Miners’ Club a success.

Our thanks go to MP Gordon Birtwistle for his kind donation and to the shops in Burnley who donated prizes towards the raffle, which included: Illusions and Upper Cuts hairdressers, in Burnley Market Hall; Meat Hamper (Burnley Market Hall); J.D.S.T Hairdressers in St James’s Street; the Banyan Wellness Centre in Manchester Road, a signed football shirt, gloves and football donated by Brian Jensen from Burnley Football Club and a drinks hamper donated by friends and family. The response from the community was heartwarming.

The S.A.L.U.T.E. team would also like to thank Liam Curren Middleton who was our DJ and compere on the night. Many thanks to Dynamic Divas, an excellent female group, and also our thanks go to guitarist Dermot Doyle. Without your support at such short notice, things may not have worked out so well.

And, lastly, thank you so much to Burnley Miners’ Club in Plumbe Street, for letting us use their premises. Please look out for future fund-raising events from S.A.L.U.T.E.
