LETTER: Shuttle won’t bring more people into Nelson

SO the shuttle has landed in Nelson.

We finally know how our councillors sit around and plan to spend our cash.

They want sending into orbit themselves. Chief Executive Stephen Barnes says it represents the history of Nelson. No, Mr Barnes, Nelson is history.

Bingo halls, cinemas, nightlife, good quality shops, gents outfitters all gone.

It’s the future, not the past we are interested in.

Having a nice centre around the council offices is OK but if no visitors are coming into the town it’s a waste of money.

Walk through the town at night - it’s like a ghost town.

And after the launching day it will be back to normal.

Just look at the empty premises - it says it all, unless the Japanese arrive in coachloads to take pictures of our shuttle.
