LETTER: Shopping trolleys blight our landscape

OVER the past fortnight I have seen discarded shopping trolleys in the river by Tesco, in the river near Curzon Street, in the canal at Manchester Road and in the grounds of Hollywood Park cinema.

I believe these trolleys cost around £400 each. As a volunteer at the Weavers’ Triangle visitor centre, I have been told by boat owners that they will not come through Burnley again because of the dangerous underwater trash. Is there no way to deter thieves from taking trolleys away from where they belong?
