LETTER: Senior citizens are victims of discrimination
Under the recent income tax changes the tax-free allowance for over 65-year-olds (the so-called “granny tax”) has been frozen.
This amounts to discrimination against the elderly as allowances for all other citizens have been increased in line with inflation. At the next General Election the Government may discover what it is like to be the victim of discrimination when senior citizens vote with their feet.
