LETTER: Seeking relatives of Ellen Palmer

I AM a keen family historian and I have been contacted by a cousin in New Zealand whose daughter purchased a photograph album some years ago which she would like to re-unite with as close a member of Ellen Palmer’s family as she can.

The album is inscribed “Presented to Ellen Palmer on her 17th birthday, 1905, by Mr and Mrs Sumner of Clayton-le-Moors”.

We have no connections with the family ourselves.

We have discovered that Ellen Palmer was born in Nelson in 1888, daughter of Henry Shuttleworth Palmer.

She married a Willie Davies in 1909 and to our knowledge had a daughter Doris born in 1910.

There may also have been a son. Doris married a Cyril Duerden in 1936 and may have had a son Ronald Peter Duerden born in Luton Bedfordshire.

In 1911, Ellen was married living with her parents, husband and daughter at 7 Halstead Lane, Little Marsden.

I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who could help us re-unite the album with Ellen’s family.
