LETTER: Ribble Valley MP has no sense of direction

I WAS interested to read in today’s Clitheroe Advertiser (August 25th) about Nigel Evans’ summer mobile surgery tour.

I am sure Ben Wallace MP would have been even more interested to learn Mr Evans was going to spend Monday, August 29th, the first day of his tour, in Fulwood. This “Preston end of Mr Evans’ constituency” was moved from the Ribble Valley Constituency to Mr Wallace’s new Wyre and Preston North seat when the boundaries were redrawn prior to the last General Election.

Presumably the Ribble Valley MP actually intends to spend his first day in areas such as Bamber Bridge and Lostock Hall, the part of South Ribble Borough within the Ribble Valley constituency.

Worryingly, the local Conservatives’ sense of direction (or apparent lack of it) may be further challenged next month when the Boundary Commission’s draft proposals to reorganise parliamentary constituencies are released. Major changes are likely in Lancashire, with another upheaval possible for the Ribble Valley.
