LETTER: Proposals on immigration will not make difference

David Cameron and the opposition parties are becoming very vocal about immigration, despite little or no firm previous action from any of them.

However, his attempt to deter people from heading to our country, while giving the impression he’s taking the matter seriously, in practice is quite laughable. He should not be offering benefits at all to new arrivals, not stopping them after six months.

As for making people wait for two to five years for social housing, that won’t work as local councils have a duty to house the homeless. While his remarks make headlines his proposals will not make the slightest difference.

The consequences, as usual, have not been thought out.
