LETTER: Politeness always welcome for letter writers

TO the unnamed contributor to last week’s letters page, politeness is always welcome, so whatever differences of opinion there are between you and Mr R.J.M. Loebell, at least he is willing to have his name and address published.

I’m afraid, “unknown person”, your letter reminded me of what James Agate overheard from an American soldier in a London bar in 1944: “You can’t argue with me, I’m ignorant!”

Do carry on writing your letters Mr Loebell. I never tire of reading them.

BERT HARDWICK,

Whalley
