LETTER: Poem about Conservative government

I WROTE this poem last time the Tories got their hands on my Britain:

Many are the shades of wonder,

When on working men Tory Governments do plunder.

Having to work in staggered times,

In God’s good light we draw our blinds.

In our cubicles we try to live,

Losing all reason forgetting how to give.

Last from life no heart for giving,

No more aware the art of living.

I called it “The Tory Wilderness (my Britain)”. I should have called it “Twice Bitten Third Time Shy” maybe.

DAN CLOUGH
