LETTER: Palestine’s troubles are none of our business
I AM appalled by Pendle Council’s plan to establish twinning links with Beit Leed.
Are these people condoning terrorism or what?
Coun. Brian Parker’s assessment (January 4th) is spot on. Palestine’s troubles are none of our business and should remain so. Additional reasons why we should put an end to this sanctimonious nonsense were put forward by G. Metcalfe in his letter in the same edition.
If, as they say, a week is a long time in politics, then ten years must be a lifetime – far too long, possibly, for some of our councillors to remember the footage shown on TV or ordinary Palestinians dancing and singing in the streets on hearing news of the 9/11 atrocities.
