LETTER: Nobel Peace Prize for European Union is a joke
On learning that the European Union had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for “six decades of advancing peace in Europe”, my initial instinct was to check the date; sadly, it was not April 1st.
It beggars belief that an institution trousering £50m. a day from our economy while also eroding our sovereignty should be the recipient of such an award. Whatever next – King Herod to posthumously receive a prize for services to childcare?!
I am now off to William Hill to stick a fiver on Robert Mugabe for the 2013 prize!
