LETTER: Join in consultation to keep dementia care local

We would like to alert readers of this newspaper to a consultation about dementia care.

After attending Pendle’s consultation meeting on January 28th, we urge every Pendle resident to respond.

There are two options.

The first recommends there should be 30 dementia in-patient beds in Blackpool.

The second recommends 40 dementia inpatient beds - 20 at Blackburn and 20 at Blackpool.

The consultation document is, in our opinion, loaded in favour of Option One.

Please have a look at this and make your views known.

This is going to affect every family in Pendle.

We are concerned that, if your loved one needs specialist dementia care, you will have to travel to Blackpool to visit them.

It’s bad enough getting to Blackburn!

The consultation period ends on February 25th and all comments and completed surveys must be received by the Mental Health Team at FREEPOST BRLIC NWW7363A, Lancashire Mental Health Team, NHS Blackburn with Darwen, Blackburn, BB1 2BR or complete the online survey at: www.lancashirementalhealth.co.uk by that date.
