LETTER: I’m working hard for Burnley - MP

I’m grateful Mark Townsend wants to make my record of action for Burnley an issue over the coming months.

Over the years there have been no end of meetings, agendas and minutes from people in an effort to get the Todmorden Curve re-opened, 13 years of a Labour MP, 11 of those years with a Labour Council in both Burnley and Lancashire hadn’t delivered when it counted for local people.

In less than 18 months as the town’s MP, I’ve had countless meetings with councillors, officers and ministers in support of that end, and now we have the money that will ensure this vital improvement goes ahead.

As well as this, I have helped to secure investment in the Weavers’ Triangle, a new bridge over the canal from the M65 to link the new business park and a new University Technical College.
