LETTER: Help the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign

I AM writing in response to an article dated September 29th with regards to fund-raising for Duchenne muscular dystrophy research.

It omitted to mention the contribution of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign to funding research into this condition.

I am a long-standing fund-raiser and campaigner for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, as my grandson, Alexander, has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This is a severe and progressive condition which has left him unable to walk by the age of 10.

I work hard to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign as they are committed to funding research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy among other conditions. Since 2004 the charity has spent over £5m. on research with over £1m. of this going to Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

On the 19th I’m holding my annual Christmas fund-raising concert at Christ Church, Heaton, featuring Ellenbrook Boothstown Brass Band. Tickets are £8 and include a glass of wine and a festive mince pie.

I would love to see local people support a great charity that is close to my heart, so please ring me on 01204 841506 and reserve a ticket.
