LETTER: Have your say on Council Tax before it’s too late
From April 2013 the national scheme of council tax benefit will be replaced with the council tax support scheme.
The money received from the Government will be at least 10% less than is currently paid out in council tax benefit to run the new council tax support scheme. This shortfall is expected to be about £1m.
Burnley Council has some very difficult decisions to make in deciding under the new scheme who will get help. It is asking the people of Burnley their opinion and is sending some residents a questionnaire on how this shortfall may be met. This is available for everyone at www.burnley.gov.uk/counciltaxsupport. Have your say about your local council tax before it is too late.
