LETTER: Gregory’s was a great shop over the years

I WAS very interested to read the letter in your edition of September 30th regarding Gregorys’ shop in Nelson ceasing to trade after 60 years.

When I got married in 1963 and wanted a television, Gregorys was the shop I turned to. Way back in 1963, it was unheard of to buy your television and therefore we rented one from Gregorys.

We continued to do this until 1975 when, because of my husband’s occupation, we had to move to Manchester. Throughout this time, the service received was second to none. As televisions were updated, we were always offered a newer model with very little increase in rent.

I was introduced to Gregorys’ by my father, Arthur Holliday (a.k.a. Indian Joe) and I am sure the Gregory family will remember him. Our very best wishes go out to the Gregory family.
