LETTER: Electronic road signs are not value for money

I HAVE for some time now questioned the poor value for money offered by the multi-thousand pound “information” signs greeting motorists on the gateways into Burnley in Westway and Yorkshire Street.

These signs seldom give any information on things such as parking or traffic conditions; they are more likely to advise on aspects of road safety or the like.

The current offering is a question from Lancashire County Council inquiring if the motorist is prepared for winter. Given the atrocious condition of Burnley’s roads following the overnight snow of Saturday/Sunday 17th /18th December, I think Lancashire County Council should look in the mirror and ask itself the same question.
