LETTER: Crossroads Choir in West Bradford was great

ON Saturday night we took our seven-year-old grandson to West Bradford Village Hall to listen to a choir.

In the knowledge that the choristers had met only three times, four if you count Saturday afternoon’s final rehearsal, we were unsure what to expect.

The proof was certainly in the pudding – or in this case, the singing! Those three intense six-hour workshops held throughout the Ribble Valley culminated in a glorious night of musical harmony – and quite a bit of movement!

Singers of all ages, many from Gisburn, Pendleton and Slaidburn, combined “For One Night Only” to form Crossroads Choir in a fund-raising event celebrating the freedom of song.

Conductor and Natural Voices tutor Olwyn Pearce led the 30-strong group in a wide-ranging folk inspired concert with plenty of audience participation.

The singers thoroughly enjoyed it – beaming faces said it all. And so did the audience. Well done Crossroads Care for providing the funding for the workshops and Olwyn’s possibly now not so “secret singers” for a memorable and enjoyable night out.
