LETTER: Australian plea to trace Burnley family

I AM trying to find out information about my great-grandmother, and would like to hear from anyone connected with a family called Booth who came to live in Burnley some time after 1911.

While looking into my family history, I discovered my great-grandmother was Sarah Hanlon, formerly Bradley, nee Pickavance.

She was born in Liverpool in 1837 and married William Dawson Bradley, by whom she had four sons. He passed away in 1859 and she married James Hanlon (a brushmaker) in Liverpool in 1871. They had two daughters, Ellen (born 1873) and Sarah (born 1875). The family had moved to Glasgow by 1881 and had two more daughters, Margaret and Elizabeth.

The last official record for Sarah in Glasgow was in the 1911 Scottish census. Her daughter, Ellen, and son-in-law Albert Booth and their five children, Elizabeth, William, James, Alice and Elizabeth lived in Errol Street, Glasgow.

I believe Ellen and Albert Booth moved to Burnley after 1911, bringing Sarah with them, but I cannot find any record of her death in Scotland or England. I would like very much to find out when she passed away and her final resting place.

I would like to make contact with any descendants of the Booth family and to exchange family history information. My email is [email protected]
