LETTER: Are you thinking of adoption or fostering?

THERE is a desperate shortage of both adoptive and foster carers throughout the UK and more people from all walks of life are needed to come forward.

Many people, whether they are single or in a relationship, still believe that being gay or lesbian is a barrier to adopting or fostering; but this is just a myth. Through our work, the British Association for Adoption & Fostering (BAAF) has met many amazing adoptive parents and foster carers from the LGBT community who have given hundreds of children a loving, safe and secure family life. We are therefore very pleased to support the LGBT Adoption and Fostering Week (4-10th March).

Throughout the week, there will be information events held across the UK which will include opportunities to speak to others who have already become a family through adoption or fostering.
