LETTER: Are police above the law?

ARE police above the law? While visiting my granddaughter in Burnley Wood, I noticed a Vauxhall police car with two male officers driving it towards Burnley town centre when they stopped at a mini roundabout. Their back left-hand brakelight was not working. I wrote down the details and time and reported it to Burnley Police Station.

What happens next? If they stop you it’s a warning, fine or penalty points on your licence. Should the same happen to them or is it brushed under the carpet? Surely, this is wrong. Let’s have one law for everbody or no law at all.

In my case, 10 years ago, it was an on-the-spot fine and points on my licence, no warning or slap on the wrist. Let’s have it right. One law for everybody.
