LETTER: Anguish at stolen Remembrance cross

I TOOK a wooden Remembrance poppy cross down to the Remembrance Garden in Barrowford Park. I took it early as I couldn’t attend on Remembrance Sunday.

One morning I walked down to the park to look at the poppies and wreaths. Imagine my horror when I find my cross has disappeared.

I cannot think the park or remembrance organisers have removed it.

If the person or persons are reading this, and they know who they are, I hope they realise how disrespectful this is and but for persons like these brave servicemen they possibly wouldn’t even be here.

I just feel gutted that this has happened. All details were on the cross and I had even varnished it so it would keep the writing on in bad weather.
