LETTER: Anger at ambulance delays for 83-year-old

THE doctor came to the residential home where my mum now lives on December 13th, just before lunch, then ordered the ambulance.

We were still waiting for it and it didn’t arrive until 5-30 p.m. I am trying to find out why it took so long and when it did get there it went to the wrong side of the home.

Then when we started going it went through Duke Bar I said: “Are we going to Blackburn?”

They said yes so I left it. When we finally got there it was gone 6 p.m. so I didn’t know what was happening and then they had the cheek to blame the doctor.

The ambulance has done it many times, sometimes we have waited one hour, sometimes two-and-a-half hours but I thought this was a disgrace from 1 p.m. to 5-30 p.m.

And when we got there it was gone 6 p.m.

My mother, who is 83 years old, didn’t get a bed until gone 11 p.m.

What would you do if it happened to one of your parents?
