It’s time to talk up Burnley

I have just read Coun. Cooper’s letter in the Burnley Express, if you keep telling people they are living in poverty they will believe it.

When we were kids, we didn’t have a lot of money, we had no central heating or home comforts that people of today have and we never said we were living in poverty. We had to make do with what we had.

Mrs Cooper, every letter you put in the Express is always putting Burnley down. Your glass is always half empty instead of half full. Don’t you think it’s about time you started telling people the good news about Burnley?

You only have to drive down Trafalgar Street and the Weavers’ Triangle to see what has been achieved in Burnley under the last administration. It seems to me this is why you put Burnley in a bad light because the Labour Party had nothing to do with bringing all the money to Burnley. If you do become MP you are just going to drive Burnley down like it used to be when Labour was in power before.
