How I’d solve our road safety problems

Great front page in the Clitheroe Advertiser & Times, highlighting what many people know, apart from those in a position to improve pavement quality – our central town pavements are a disgrace.

There’s a simple solution – rip them up and replace with Tarmac.

While they’re at it, reset the kerbs in the area outside Boots, The Rose and Crown and also across the road up to Banana News, creating narrower pavements to allow delivery wagons to deliver without parking on the pavements (only up to 9am though, then use the extra space created for parking).

A proper pedestrian crossing wouldn’t go amiss either, right on the corner, by Santander, and with proper warnings in place.

While we’re talking roads, the regular delivery wagon to The Brown Cow at the junction of Woone Lane with Moor Lane is an accident waiting to happen. There’s plenty of room behind the pub at the top of Woone Lane to accommodate such deliveries – it’s a lot safer as well, it just means a bit of extra work for the dray men.

If the council would like advice on any matter concerning the pavements and roads, I’m free, so let’s get on with it!
