Great night of entertainment for Samaritans

The other Saturday evening, myself and three friends attended a concert at Pendle Hippodrome entitled “Midsummer Melodies”, organised by Nelson Ladies Civic Choir in aid of the Samaritans.

They were joined on stage by Colne Orpheus Glee Union and the Flat Cap Pack.

What a wonderful evening it was with a very varied programme. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.

How disappointed the organisers must have been with the number attending, maybe down to not enough publicity and the nice weather.

I don’t remember seeing any adverts for it in the West Craven area – we only went after seeing it publicised in the Heritage Centre in Barrowford the previous Tuesday.

The admission price was only £7 with concessions at £5. Where else could you get first class entertainment at that price?
