Farewell to inspirational teacher Jessie

I would like to say a few words on the passing of a remarkable lady, Mrs Jessie Pedlow.

Jessie, a retired teacher, worked tirelessly for many years in the Piccadilly area of town, where she lived, to encourage children to take the right path in life. Together with other ladies in the area she organised youth clubs, fun days, trips out, lunch clubs and much more.

Jessie, with the help of Burnley Council and local councillors, brought about Piccadilly skate park and Jessie’s Park. She helped form Piccadilly Area Residents’ Association (PARA) of which she was chariman for a number of years.

Jessie wanted no recognition for her hard work, but she was truly amazing. It was a privilege to know her.

RIP Jessie.
