Coverage of MP’s court case was overkill

I found to my astonishment when picking up the Clitheroe Advertiser the overkill usage of the paper’s valuable space on the lucky-not-to-be-in-prison MP Nigel Evans.

The use of more than five-and-a-half pages is considered, by all I have talked to, to be a down and out propaganda campaign by the Conservative Party and their supporters, to make their tarnished golden boy look good.

Can the 50,000-plus citizens of the Ribble Valley (two-thirds of the voters) who never wanted this Conservative candidate as our MP be given in the future the same amount of paper space?

Will we see our collected thoughts and letters on our opposition to the continuation off this Conservative member as the MP for the Ribble Valley, being published as one lot?

Or will it be restricted to selected letters and comments being published in dribs and drabs.

Democracy must be seen to be done here, not just used as a word.
