Burnley v Tottenham on ‘ice rink’ pitch

I read in the Express a piece about Burnley’s games against Tottenham in the FA Cup.
Turf Moor.Turf Moor.
Turf Moor.

There is no mention of their meeting in the semi-final of the cup in 1961 when Tottenham beat us to go on and win the double of league and cup for the first time in the 20th Century; and the biggest omission is the third round tie in Janurary 1963 when, during the worst weather for decades, the match was postponed three times and eventually played on an ice rink of a pitch.

Burnley got their revenge for the defeat in the 1962 final and won 3-0. Obviously a young reporter is not old enough to have been at these two matches.

I do not think any of us lucky enough to have been at White Hart Lane for the third round in 1963 will ever forget the feeling of beating our arch rivals.
