Burnley doesn’t need streets paved with gold

I think £3m. can be used for a better project than paving stones, benches and planters.

I don’t think Dick Wittington is coming to Burnley so we don’t need pavements of gold. I think we just like to take the pavements up every now and again as it’s certainly been up and down a few times in the last 10 to 15 years.

I think we should be thinking long term. Further down St James’s Street where you enter Burnley centre, the Mitre Pub was bought by Burnley Council. For what reason? So we can look at another dilapidated building?

Further down the road, there is another empty pub in decay. Then there are shops that want to be brought up to standard, the Empire Theatre is crumbling away, we have a market hall with nothing in.

So I think spending £3m. on plant pots by the council is surely going the wrong way.
