Fireworks - I really don't get the fascination
Now it is bonfire weekend and the turmoil will go on, scaring small children and animals of every shape and size in the process.
After that we should get a respite, even it is only until New Year’s Eve.
We should, but I doubt that we will.
Fireworks appear to have become part of our everyday life.
And I just don’t get it.

Hide AdPeople of my age will remember that the only time the skies were ever lit up with Standard fireworks was for a Guy Fawkes party.
Of course, fireworks are nothing new and the Chinese have been using them as a part of celebrations of many sorts for centuries.
But I really don’t get the fascination.
A massive organised firework display, the likes of which we will see across the area over the weekend, is one thing.
But the fireworks which cost hapless parents a small fortune and fizzle away to nothing in just a few seconds are, to be honest, pretty pointless.
Can we just go back to one annual party using them, please?
