Let’s all raise a glass to the Crooked Billet, Worsthorne, for it has been voted the ‘Best Bar or Pub’ in Burnley.
The pub trade has been battered in recent years with many well-known watering holes forced to close their doors due to smoking bans, cheap supermarket booze and greedy breweries.
To survive as a local pub is difficult enough, but the Crooked Billet, run by mine hosts Alison and Paul is doing more than survive, it is thriving.
Good old-fashioned hospitality, decent ales and a community atmosphere have combined to make the Billet a real village focal point.
Long may it continue to prosper.
