News that the long-awaited direct Burnley to Manchester rail link faces a long delay due to a lack of suitable rolling stock will be greeted with dismay.
For Burnley has worked very hard to secure funding to transform Manchester Road station and re-instate the famous Todmorden Curve.
And now those plans have been dealt a blow, okay, not a body blow, that will see the link being delayed by up to a year.
A direct rail link to Manchester is crucial to the continued development of the area and we must press those responsible to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
