Discussing apprenticeships with HSBC

They are looking to establish something similar to Barclays who have invested in apprenticeships and young people.

Big companies are changing their attitudes to apprenticeships, appreciating the difference they can make to a company and the economy.

Tuesday I was on a Parliamentary visit to Farnborough Air Show, the most significant aerospace trade event in the UK. I heard success stories and concerns of various industries in the sector, and to improve the image of manufacturing in general by helping to raise its profile.

We are at a very significant time, with the growth in commercial aerospace and emergence of highly innovative new aircraft, technologies and manufacturing processes.

Back to Parliament for votes then dinner hosted by Nissan. It was interesting to speak in depth about their progress- they are producing 6,000 cars a week,90% for export.

This highlighted concerns of global companies who would suffer if we pull of Europe. Thursday was my debate on autism. Several families from Burnley had travelled down to see it. It is alarming that four in 10 children with autism have been excluded informally and therefore illegally during their time at school.

Every child should be able to get the quality education they need to learn, thrive and achieve and I was communicating this throughout the debate.

I was, however, horrified by the contribution of Mark Hendrick MP, who had been briefed by Lancashire CC.

On Wednesday I attended an apprenticeship evening with Vince Cable. Friday was busy with constituents, Saturday my street advice stall and Friday I was at Ghosia Mosque.
