Burnley cricket hero Jimmy Anderson silences the critics
When the Burnley Express launched a front-page campaign calling for Jimmy Anderson to be given the Freedom of the Borough, there were a few doubters, mainly because of the cricketer’s age.
But our Jimmy has certainly silenced those doubters as he continues to smash wicket-taking records on the international cricket stage. The latest came at the weekend when he became England’s highest-ever one day international wicket taker - surpassing Yorkie Darren Gough’s record.
Unlike many famous sportmen and women Jimmy has remained fiercely proud of his home town and has proved a great Burnley ambassador.
