I am sure all discerning beer drinkers welcome a fine range of ales, when visiting a local hostelry.
And one watering hole in the locality, will be having quite an extensive choice of beverages, over three days, commencing Friday, September 25th.
The award-winning Hare and Hounds, Padiham, will once again be holding a mini-beer festival. And hopefully, it will be as popular, as the beery celebrations that have preceded it.
I say hopefully, as mine hosts, Stefan and Laura Riley, have asked me to select the beers, that will appeal to their many ale quaffing clientele.
It has presented a good challenge. As it is most important to identify a range of beers, that will satisfy differing palates.
There will be golden ales, traditional bitters and darker beers. Including a stout and a porter. I have also identified, both a fruity wheat, and a saison style beer. I’m sure they will prove very popular.
Finally, an exclusive! I can now reveal a beer that is being brewed for me, in order to have it available for the festival. A robust, citrusy, IPA style beer - and not too bitter hopped.
It’s kindly being brewed by a small microbrewery, situated at the rear of Nino’s restaurant, in Cliviger, Burnley.
Brewer, Carmelo, only rolls out 10 barrels a week - and most of them are consumed in the restaurant. His artisan beers are exceptional - and I’m quite excited about Carmelo brewing this beer. I have named this 4.5% pale ale, “Cliviger Clout”.
Stefan and Laura will be looking forward to seeing you, at this friendly, welcoming pub, over the last weekend in September.
