Despite a cloudy morning, groups of workmates, friends and shoppers have gathered across east Lancashire to watch the solar eclipse.
Some 90% of the sun was obscured by the moon at the peak of the eclipse at 9-30am, visible through breaks in the cloud, and the light dulling.
Astronomers say the next eclipse of this magnitude will be in 2026.
