Blast probe after Burnley house explosion

Detectives are investigating an explosion which ripped through the ground floor of a Burnley house.

The blast caused extensive damage to parts of the property in Coleshill Avenue and showered the road in debris.

Neighbours reported hearing a huge bang around 11-15pm on Thursday as the explosion went off at the semi-detached property.

Police say the house was empty at the time and nobody was injured in the incident.

The front door and hallway were badly damaged in the blast and Crime Scene Investigators have cordoned off the house.

Det. Sgt Charlie Haynes said: “If anybody has any information at all about this incident, I would ask them to please contact police.”

Anybody with any information is asked to contact Burnley CID on 01282 472518.
