Nursery's letter from the Queen

Toddlers and pre-school children at a local nursery were overjoyed when the postman delivered a letter from Queen Elizabeth.

The Queen sent a photograph and message to Little People of Piccadilly in Burnley, thanking the children for the handmade card they posted for her 90th birthday on April 21st.

The children made the card using colourful paint to create pretty handprint patterns and wrote their names inside with help from nursery staff.

Nursery manager Emma Spencer said: “The children at Little People of Piccadilly are all very creative and love making artwork together.

“They were so excited when we asked them to make something special for the Queen.

“It’s important to make writing fun for young children, so we thought this would be a lovely way to help them develop their letter forming skills too.

“The staff and the children were all surprised when we received the letter today.

“The Queen must have received thousands of birthday cards so it’s very nice of Buckingham Palace to take the time to thank the children for their hard work.”
